May House has a large open plan dining and living roomwith log burner. There are two large comfortable sofas, six-seater oak dining table with walnut bench and beech chairs, complemented by various period antique pieces. This is a perfect living space to entertain and enjoy the local “catch of the day”.
The kitchen is handmade in oak with quartz worktop set between two rooms; the “cook’s kitchen” and the “pantry”.
The cook’s kitchen has everything you could need to make a sumptuous meal, including an Aga with an induction hob and island for more informal dining seating four people; sit here with a glass of wine from the under counter wine fridge and watch the tide come in. The owners have stocked the kitchen with everything you need including Alessi designer tableware and beautiful Ridel glasses. The “pantry” holds additional storage, fridge and freezer, washing machine along with a “Kitchenaid” mixer, toaster and kettle.
May House has two large luxury bedrooms. Both bedrooms have beautiful, stylish en-suite shower rooms, with walk in rainfall showers, handmade copper basins, underfloor heating and towel rails.
The master bedroom has a king size bed and a handmade copper bath. Relax in the bath with a glass of champagne and enjoy the wonderful views over Port Isaac.
The second bedroom has a super-king zip and link bed which can also be split into two single beds.
A patio garden surrounds the house; the front planted as a traditional cottage garden, whilst the rear has a selection of vintage galvanised tubs planted with Cornish flora.
The front garden enjoys the morning sun perfect for your morning coffee. The rear patio is ideal for a lazy long lunch and then a soak in the locally hand built natural wood hot tub watching the sun go down. (It is also great in the winter too whilst the steam rises slowly).
The rear patio is decked with a six-seater dining table and chairs looking over the harbour, which is perfect for a spot of alfresco dining.
There is no parking at May House but it is possible to drive down Rose Hill or the Platt and unload your car there.
Visitors are advised to use the large car park at the top of the hill and to walk down to the village, as the narrow streets can be difficult to negotiate. There is a stunning view of the coast from this car park, in addition to easy access to both Port Isaac and Port Gaverne.
Dolphin Street is fairly steep, from Rose Hill there is a hand railed footpath between two houses. From the Platt there is a steep incline around 200m.
All bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the first floor. May House still retains the original Georgian Staircase which is more narrow than a modern staircase.
